What Makes This A Game Changer

I designed Pump-A-Porter because of a problem I kept hearing about, and had myself.

You buy a Spectra because it's the pump that actually works. Strong suction, reliable output, the one your lactation consultant pointed you to. And then you spend the next six months sitting next to a wall outlet eight times a day while your life happens without you.

The obvious answer is a wearable pump. Except a lot of moms try one and find the output drops. So you're choosing between the pump that works and the freedom to move.

Pump-A-Porter removes the choice. Your Spectra goes into a belt bag on your hip. Same pump, same suction, same output - but you're standing up, walking around, making lunch, holding your baby.

A few things worth knowing:

The Spectra S1 fits as it's genuinely cordless. The S2 fits too, but because needs mains power, you'd need an external battery pack which also fits in the bag or in the side pocket.

The side pockets are there because moms asked. Bottles, spare flanges, storage bags, the marker you can never find when you need to label milk. Or just your phone.

The belt is adjustable and sits where it won't press on a C-section incision. Several moms told me that mattered more than they expected.

The fabric is our Mother's Print. From a distance it reads as a pattern. Up close it's made of mom silhouettes - dozens of them, all different. I wanted the thing you wear during the hardest part of the day to be quietly on your side.

Honest note: if you're working at a counter, the bag sits at roughly counter height and can get in the way. Moms solve this by pushing the bag to the side, on top of their hip. If you can't figure it out, email me and we'll sort it out.

Your Questions Answered

Can I use this carrier with other pump brands than Spectra?

Yes! Any pump that’s as big as or smaller than a Spectra S2 (e.g. Synergy Gold, Motif Luna, Pump In Style with MaxFlow) fits in the bag and can be used hands free. For pumps that require mains connection (e.g. Spectra S2 or Medela Pump in Style Advanced), you can still use the bag but would need an external battery pack for your pump.

What's the most comfortable flange setup to use with this?

Most pumps ship with 24mm hard plastic flanges — which are too big for the majority of women, and too rigid to flex to your anatomy. A lot of moms pump in discomfort without realizing their flanges are the problem. Cushy Silicone Flanges come in smaller sizes (most moms need 13–19mm) and flex to your body instead of fighting it. They're what lactation consultants recommend, and they pair naturally with Pump-A-Porter for the full mobile-and-comfortable setup.

Can I go completely hands-free with this bag?

Yes, if you couple it with wearable breast milk collection cups that can replace your flanges. Most moms pair their bag with the Pump-A-Collect cups to go completely hands-free and pump discreetly.

Will I lose suction or output using it?

No. Your pump is doing exactly what it always does, it's just riding on your hip instead of sitting on a table. Nothing about the motor, the tubing or the suction changes. This is the main reason moms choose it over switching to a wearable.

It looks like it might get in the way at the kitchen counter?

It can, since the bag sits at about counter height. The fix most moms use pushing the bag to the side so it sits on your hip rather than in front. If you try it and it isn't working for you, email me.

Is the carrier machine washable?

No, we advise against machine washing. Please refer to the How to Clean below.

Keep it Fresh

  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
  • Avoid submerging in water.
  • Allow to air dry completely before next use.

Safety First

  • Ensure that your bag is securely fastened before starting to pump to prevent any damage.
  • Regularly inspect the carrier for any signs of wear and tear, and replace if necessary.
